A Hollywood breakup is a painful, exposed process, and when a child is involved it can become an even more embittered public spectacle. Halle Berry and ex Gabriel Aubry have kept silent about their seemingly ugly battle until now, but the actress has stepped in to ensure that all is peaceful.

"Our issues were never about fighting for her," she told Extra, admitting that she and Aubry needed a legal professional to help them work out the kinks.

She emphasized that Nahla's need for "both her parents," took precedence over the former couple duking it out over if 3-year-old Aubry should stay in her dad's LA digs or live with Mom in NYC while she shot a film.

Halle concedes that when they enlisted the trusty expertise of a judge, the family reached a calmer place. "Sometimes, as a couple, you reach an impasse. We need a court and a judge to help us work out some of the delicate issues," she said.

Just like Halle is meant to stun us with her beauty, the judge is intended to clear up legal battles like these, anyway!
