Katy Perry showed off her Betsey JohnsonBetsey Johnson dress while picking up two awards at the People's Choice Awards 2011 on Wednesday (January 5) at Nokia Theatre L.A. The 25-year-old pop sensation won the award for Favorite Female ArtistArtist, beating out Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood, and Pink.

Perry, whose infectious pop hits California Gurls and Teenage Dream dominated the charts last year, picked up trophies for favourite female artist and favourite online sensation.She lit up the ceremony in a strapless purple and white dress complete with blue neon lights which she teamed with pink peep-toe heels.

Mrs Russell BrandRussell Brand took the lead this year with five nominations including Favorite, Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Song, Favorite Music Video and Favorite Web Celeb.Speaking to the audience, she said: 'I've had an incredible year.'

Taking to Twitter after the ceremony, Perry posted: 'OH MY WE WON TWO PEOPLES CHOICE AWARDS! Thank you SO much! I really appreciate all ur continuous love & support! Remember u have the POWER!'

The night was certainly a star-studded event as other celebs such as Zac Efron, Selena Gomez, the Kardashian sisters, Taylor Swift and many more were in attendance.
